Thin, boyishlooking actor who gained wide acclaim as Dave, the romantic Bloomington, Indiana, bicyclist in the sleeper hit "Breaking Away (1979)". Before this, he had worked on the New York stage and had small roles in "Roma (1972)", "9/30/55 (1977)", and the Robert Altman films "3 Women (1977)" and "A Wedding (1978)".

Following the success of "Breaking Away" Christopher gave a flamboyant performance as a cinema-loving killer in "Fade to Black (1980)", played an American Olympic runner in the Oscar-winning "Chariots of Fire (1981)", and a soldier who helps operate an orphanage in "Don't Cry, It's Only Thunder (1982)".

Since then, he has concentrated on stage work and turned up in small films like "Jake Speed (1986)", "A Sinful Life (1989)", and "Circuitry Man (1990)".
